1984

Paul Nickell

21 September 1953

Having not seen this episode of Studio One, I am not in a good position to comment on whether, and to what extent, the episode stays true to either the letter or the spirit of Orwell’s classic dystopian tale, 1984.  I am likewise in no position to judge whether this episode is as libertarian in its rejection of authoritarianism as was Orwell’s original story.

What I can say is that “1984” was the first episode of the sixth season of Studio One, that it was an hour long, and that it was aired in 1953 on CBS.
