Titled the Qur’ān, this work serves as the principle religious text for Muslims.

he text of this book was translated from Arabic into English by Abdullah Yasuf Ali and first published in Lahore, Pakistan in 1934. This edition is very close to Yusaf Ali’s translation, with some “modest attempt[s] at ‘modernizing’ the language to bring it more into line with the 21st Century usage.” This modernisation was conducted by Tahrikke Tarsile Qur’an, Inc.
Along with the text, I have included comments of my own in pale yellow. Chances are, someone will find my comments controversial. It is inevitable, I figure, given how important religious texts are to people. Some will be angry that I ask the questions I ask, while others will appreciate my questions as a means of further reflection on their part, reflection that may either ultimately strengthen or weaken their present views. I really cannot say what effect my questions will have on you, whether you will find them philosophically intriguing or simply outrageous and irritating. Either way, however, I hope you walk away from this with a positive experience.
