The Thing I Like Least About My Cell Phone

19 December 2008 — Text messages often include incorrectly-spelled words.  Why do people who have impeccable spelling nevertheless opt to use incorrect spelling in texts?  We wish to save money.

Opportunism, Crime, and the State

18 December 2008 — The state is opportunistic, and will use any excuse to gain power—even national tragedy.  Unfortunately, statist opportunism is never good for society, as it creates disharmony and curtails the security of Liberty.

The Mad Hatter: Depp v. Buscemi

11 December 2008 — Tim Burton has chosen Johnny Depp to play the Mad Hatter in his upcoming film, Alice in Wonderland.  He chose wrong.  See who he should have chosen instead.

What is Non-Voting?

24 November 2008 — There are some people who not only do not vote, but encourage others to not vote as well.  Some of these people are strategic non-voters, who view non-voting as more effective than voting; others are ethical non-voters, who oppose voting in principle.

It’s Okay to Not Vote

4 November 2008 — The cult of civic duty would have you believe that you have a “responsibility” to vote.  You do not.

Why Punk is Dead, And What This Means for Music

13 October 2008 — To some people, the most controversial claim you can ever make is that punk is dead.  Is there any validity to the claim, and can a fan of punk ever have just cause to utter these words?

The Males Are Alright

6 October 2008 — Kathleen Parker argues that males need some external force to come into their lives and save them.  Her position, that men should view themselves as victims of our culture, is wrong; self-victimisation is a trap.

The Joker is Not an Anarchist

22 August 2008 — Anarchists want to eliminate the coercive hierarchy of any person over any person, while the Joker wishes to impose the coercive hierarchy of each person over each person.  By definition, the Joker rejects anarchy and promotes lawlessness in its place.

For The Return of Thorn!

22 July 2008 — The letter thorn (þ) has been absent from the English language for around six- or seven-hundred years.  Is it time to bring this forgotten letter back?  Maybe, maybe not.

The Intelligent Yet Flawed Jonah Goldberg

8 July 2008 — If you indeed own your own life, then it is your absolute right to commit suicide any time you wish, so long as you do not violate in the process anybody else’s rights.  The only legitimate means by which one may stop his or her friend from committing suicide is through persuasion, never through aggression.

A Reply to “Why ‘Sex’ Is Not Equal To ‘Race’”

4 June 2008 — A ban on gay marriage requires the aggressive actions of the state to limit the right of contract.  Aggression, i.e. the initiation of force, is always in violation of natural law.  We are behoved to oppose the illegal bans on gay marriage, regardless of the arbitrary feelings of some majority faction.

What’s Wrong With Homesteading?

28 May 2008 — Homesteading is the act of appropriating a resource from the state of nature, in other words, of taking ownership over some un-owned resource through one’s labour.  I often find myself homesteading un-owned books.  Chances are, you’ve homesteaded stuff, too.  I therefore find it quite strange that Mr. Brian Holtz would reject the homesteading principle.

In Rejection of Lawlessness

7 May 2008 — How might one respond to the question, “Are you an anarchist?”  For starters, to answer this question, we have to understand what is implied by the term “anarchist.”

Distractions on the Road to Freedom; or, What Would Harry Browne Do?

28 April 2008 — Libertarians love to argue with one another.  Put ten of us in a room, and you’ll be sure to get eleven different opinions.  But although we disagree on this or that, there is much to unite us, and we ought never let our disagreements distract us from the road to freedom.

Bob Barr: Libertarian?

23 April 2008 — A number of Libertarians are running to get the LP presidential nomination, among them Bob Barr.  Is Barr a born-again libertarian, as his proponents claim?  I conclude that he is not yet, and thus ought not yet become our nominee for president.

Where Did America Go?

25 February 2008 — I love America.  I love her, not for her government or its rulers, but for the Liberty she symbolises.  I do not love her blindly, but with full recognition that the political class is slowly killing her.  Where has America gone?

Libertarianism: Ideology for the Common Man

15 January 2008 — People are unique.  Yet if we can say that society shares a common ideology, it would be this: libertarianism.  After all, people acting outside of the state generally understand that it is wrong to initiate force against their neighbours in order to achieve their own goals.

He’s racist?  Since when?

15 January 2008 — A certain Republican candidate for president has been unfairly accused of racism.  This blog post clearly indicates that the allegation is unfounded.

Liberal Fascism: A Letter to National Review

14 January 2008 — National Review says that Mrs. Hillary Clinton is a fascist.  The magazine is not incorrect in this regard.  It’s merely unfortunate that the editors have blinded themselves to the fact that there is no meaningful difference between Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Bush.

A Detailed Analysis of The New Republic’s “Selections” from the Ron Paul Newsletters

13 January 2008 — The New Republic (TNR) has decided to publish, in an attempt to smear the Ron Paul Revolution, a number of excerpts from the newsletters that Ron Paul failed to edit.  The false implication made by TNR is that Dr. Paul endorses the filth published under his name.  I have analysed the TNR excerpts in detail and concluded that Dr. Paul should have actually taken the time to edit his newsletters.
